1. How old were you when you first started playing music?
when I was four I would listen to my brothers working at their piano lessons and when they were done' I would go to the keyboard and play by ear the piece they were trying to learn from the music...they were pissed at me
2. Who was/is your biggest musical inspiration?
I think Billy Holiday and then Bob Dylan were my first big influences......Billy because of how she bent the time and sang the lyric......and Bob because he was a story teller
3. Where do you make your home?
mostly Toronto
4. Do you have any pets?
just a cat that my daughter Zoe rescued and I am thinking of getting a dog
5. What is the best concert/gig you have ever done?
I played Koerner Hall here in Toronto and it is the best room I've ever played in terms of the acoustic sound .... and then there is Aeolian Hall in London Ont which is also gorgeous sound
6. What is the best concert you have ever attended?
just saw the Eagles in Toronto....they are amazing.........also I went to a Joni Mitchell concert before her stroke........a few artists were singing her songs and then she grabbed the mic . it was electric
7. Do you have an all-time favourite song or album?
not really ......I learn things from all kinds of music from Appalachian songs to Bill Evans classics
8. What musician would you still most like to work with?
Herbie Hancock
9. If you weren't a musician what would you be?
a belly dancer
10. What is your favourite thing about Vancouver?
the closeness to the Rocky mountains and the Pacific Ocean....not to mention the ancient forests on the Island.....it is a magnificent part of the world and a bit of a secret like a lot of things about Canada
