Mindi Abair- Based On A True Story

Based On A True Story, released in June, 2025, is Mindi Abair’s 14th solo album. With her signature flair and finesse, Mindi presents her most personal and autobiographical work to date. Mindi collaborates with multi-platinum producer/songwriter, Wayne Rodrigues, to produce this top quality album.  It features eleven very personal songs reflecting significant moments, memories and emotions from Mindi's own life.

 

Inspired by a mix of pop, jazz and soul influences, this album features spirited collaborations with artists like legendary bassist, Marcus Miller, R&B singer, Kenny Lattimore, keyboardist, Bobby Lyle, vocalist, Delisha Thomas, and rising star, Arthur Thompson.

 

We at The Wave have already added the very funky single, "Nouveau Soul", to our playlist. Mindi surprises us all with Arthur Thompson’s inspirational vocal track, "Everything Is Going To Be All Right", one that I think has crossover chart potential.  My other personal fave is the cool groove, "Day Dreaming", encouraging an activity I thoroughly enjoy! "Sienna Sunrise" is as lovely as the title suggests. Lots of variety in the blend of genres represented by Based On A True Story, where all tracks are written and performed with the same energy, precision and fun Mindi Abair injects into all her performances.
